Mrs. Laura Kusak and Mrs. Lisa Zidek collaborated across grade levels to allow students to express their thoughts in conjunction with counseling lessons. These works of art were displayed along with the Western Art Exhibit.
Book: The Color Monster
Pre-K Projects: Smush Monsters
Students expressed themselves by dropping paint colors of their choice on white paper, then folding and smushing to create an organic colorful shape. Then they added wiggle eyes and drew features to create their own color monsters
Kindergarten Projects: Color Monsters
Students used their choice of colored paper to create color monsters and glued them to bright backgrounds.
First Grade Projects: Shape Monsters
Students chose colorful geometric shapes and added details to make some silly monsters. Then they used paint sticks to add splashes of color around them.
Book: Only One YOU
Second and Third Grade Projects: Painted Rock Fish
Students chose rocks and painted them with bright acrylic paints. Then they used paint pens and acrylic pens to add fish faces and scales to them, resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind fish.

Fourth and Fifth Grade Projects: Colorful Collage Cards
Students took cards cut from Yupo paper and dropped on the alcohol ink colors of their choice. Next they used the collage technique to add pictures and phrases to the cards as a means of self expression.

Sixth Grade Projects: Positive Messages on Canvas Board
Students chose acrylic paint colors that represent different emotions and used plastic wrap and brayers to artistically blend the paints into an abstract design. Then they used stencils to overlay a positive message on their designs.
